YOUNG entrepreneurs more than trebled a cash pot loaned to them as part of a scheme to give them a taste of business
Lovers Lane Primary School has been working with UK Waste Solutions Ltd of Newark in the scheme, run by the Together For Newark project, which aims to create stronger links between schools and local companies.
All 25 pupils in year six were given £5 to help them kickstart a business idea.
Teacher Mr Adam Cook said the children’s ideas ranged from food stalls to hand car washes and make-up booths.
As a result the children raised £465 and were able to return the original £125.
The £340 proft will go towards an end-of-year prom for the class and into a fund to buy resources for the rest of the school.
“The children really excelled It gave them a real insight into all the elements of business, including proft and loss.”
