Three hardy souls at UKWSL will be feeling the breeze a little sharper today after taking part in Macmillan’s Brave The Shave Campaign.
Chevaughn Acutt, Lorraine Simpson and Nathan Nice all faced the clippers wielded by the expert hand of Jodie Johnson, wife of UKWSL owner Garry.
Brave The Shave is one of a number of events organised by UKWSL’s Lynda Beckett to support Macmillan and the UKWSL employees who have fought and are currently fighting cancer. The tombola, cake bake, bike ride, raffle and Brave The Shave have already raised over £1600, smashing the original target of £1000 and now on course to hit £2000 by the end of the month.
Chevaughn, Lorraine and Nathan (pictured) join the ranks of 6684 who have also braved the shave so far this year and raised an impressive £1.869 million in the process – enough money to fund 35 Macmillan nurses.
Cathy Cook, People Director at UKWSL, comments: “We couldn’t be prouder of the solidarity shown by Chevaughn, Lorraine and Nathan towards their colleagues who have battled or are battling this terrible disease. Here at UKWSL, we actively encourage employees to suggest worthy causes to support and this year have also supported Mental Health Organisation, Children’s Bereavement Centre in Newark, Love 4 Liam and the National Diabetes Organisation.”
