Public Services

We have managed the waste needs for many public buildings and similar types of Institutions for many years. Public services including: schools, colleges, law enforcement, healthcare, emergency services and libraries. Waste and Resources action programme (WRAP) are very keen to promote the appointment of Waste management companies to help managers in these types of situations maximise opportunities that might otherwise be over looked.

Our experience tells us that strong governance is always required and UKWSL will ensure total compliance and auditability of the complete waste management chain from collection to final disposal.

With many Institutions having public access, health and safety of all persons on site is a top priority. Therefore, UKWSL will ensure that service partners operate to the highest standards of health and safety management and take on board all site safety rules and procedures. Site security and personnel protection is also important. UKWSL ensure that all arrangements and disclosure and barring checks are in line with best practice and fully auditable.

We often find that space may be at a premium and service reliability is paramount in order to maximise upon this scarce commodity. UKWSL will only choose to work with service partners that have proven reliability and effectiveness in this area.

Our operations model will align with the environmental objectives of the Institution/building concerned and agree a format and frequency against declared objectives and key performance indicators.

Timely and accurate data will be made available with suitable analysis in order to measure quality, environmental and safety performance. These are a fundamental part of UKWSL’s management systems UKAS accredited certifications to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental) and OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety).UKWSL will carry out waste surveys and make recommendations concerning waste container type, quantity, size and collection frequency in order to optimise the waste collection service.

A very big plus for our brokerage model is that it applies the proximity principle in providing contractors that are local to the Institutions where the waste is produced. This has the triple advantage of minimising the journey distances for waste collection and subsequent processing as well as providing gainful employment within the local community of the Institution.
