Greenhouse Build to help local schools

Always on the lookout for community projects that have relevance to our work we have been delighted to help Lover’s Lane Primary School in their ambitious plan to re-build their School Greenhouse.

This exciting project involved the collection of 1,300 green plastic bottles that were collected together over the past 6 months.

The project was created to replace an existing structure was past it’s best and was managed by the schools Eco committee who lead on environmental projects.

Three organisations came together to deliver the end product ourselves , The Rotary Club of Newark Castle and Lover’s Lane Primary school its self.

The finished green house will allow temperatures to rise by 10 degrees even at its coldest. Gaps in between the bottles allow water to drip feed through the structure thus providing a self-watering system.

The School are now eagerly awaiting the new growing season so that they can experiment with growing new crops.

Our own Cathy Cook (People director) said:

“We were delighted to work with our partner School, Lovers Lane Primary and Newark Castle Rotary as part of our on-going commitment to work with the community. This project was clearly a perfect fit for us as waste management brokers”
