What we expect you to do


Build and maintain strong relationships with our network of partners, contractors and customers across the UK through effective communication skills both written and verbal.


Providing an outstanding customer service experience both internally and externally.  Deal with customer queries through investigation and effective questioning and accurately record the process using the Hub, taking complete ownership of operations related matters. Your duties will include (but not be limited to):


Manage your own daily workload with the support of regular one to ones with your direct line manager.


As a key member of Operations Team, you will be required to deliver against your personal targets and therefore contribute to the overall success of the team.


You will maintain customer records and service details using our bespoke system The Hub so information is accurate and up to date and can be used effectively throughout the business.


You will work to upload contractor waste transfer notes to our bespoke systems so that we comply to our customers’ requirements.


You will be responsible for liaising with our contractors and customers with regards to any applicable service day changes and updating these details on our systems.


You will support the Operations General Manager in the co-ordination and management of the annual Duty of Care documents and chasing these up where necessary to ensure that they are sent out by the required deadlines.


You will support the Procurement Manager by preparing information ready for supplier quarterly review meetings.


You will manage your workload to ensure that you are able to complete projects that are given to the team.


You will work closely with the Sales and Account Management Teams, in order to understand the customer’s objectives and business goals to secure prices from suppliers that are both compliant and competitive.


You will record the rates in the agreed format and provide them to the Sales Team for use in the tender process.


You will detail any caveats that form part of the pricing structure.


You will gain and expand your knowledge of your client’s industry and that of the waste industry. You will make a difference to your customer by using this knowledge to offer bespoke solutions to your client base in line with the client’s needs and strategic plan without compromising legislation, service provision and margin.



The skills you will need are:


Highly effective communication skills – you must listen well, ask good questions, build superb relationships, write clearly and talk with confidence


Decision making – consult with your line manager before you make decisions and be able to implement them quickly and effectively


Efficient organisation – you will need to work quickly and accurately with a strong eye for detail so that your customers always get a good high-quality service


Efficient time management – to be able to manage your own workload through effective time management


Confident and capable IT skills – you will be using Microsoft Office and Accounting Packages, you need to have a good level of competence, being able to operate with confidence and without supervision. You must be able to present information quickly and clearly having the ability to use all the basic functions well


Fantastic relationship builder – you will have the ability to build strong relationships, with our Customers, network of suppliers and the departments that you will work with specifically, Accounts, Operations and Supply Chain


Great Customer Care – To be creative, focused and close to your customers driving excellence through customer care


Make Change – The ability to be analytical and to deliver change through your investigation


Negotiation – you must use your integrity and assertiveness to achieve a sustainable working relationship for UKWSL and our partners


Setting expectations – You will have the ability to set and manage expectations of both internal and external partners


Understanding the business – be able to learn, interpret and understand the business, industry and the changing needs
