Les Clayton

Les started out as a Materials Technologist sourcing new materials and components for use in industrial hoses. This led to quality assurance and management lead auditor training. The next challenge for Les was a 10-year spell at Cosalt, where he completed certification to ISO 9001 of 14 sites, established health and safety and environmental management systems and completed NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.

Prior to joining UKWSL, Les was a self-employed H&S Trainer and Consultant. During this time, he assisted approximately 30 companies in improving their quality, environmental and safety management systems. Since then, Les has gained CIEH, IOSH and UKATA trainer approvals to deliver safety-based training up to Director level.

Les joined UKWSL in 2012 as a Consultant assisting with certification to OHSAS 18001 safety management. He became a full-time employee, as Compliance Manager overseeing maintenance and development of quality, environmental and safety management systems including total compliance of the Company and Contractors with all statutory and best practice obligations. Most recently Les guided UKWSL in becoming a Chartered Institute of Waste Management Approved Training Centre for Wastesmart training and delivering courses internally and to Clients.

In 2017 he joined the newly formed Board of Directors as Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Director.
