Judges HammerChanges to Legislation on the disposal of batteries and accumulators

Look at the new Legislation

Changes to the rules on batteries and accumulators all UK businesses have been in place since September 2008 via the implementation of the Batteries Directive.

Changes in Legislation and what they mean:

·         Tighter rules on recycling and the recovery of batteries

·         Expected recycling targets of 25% of batteries by 2012

·         Levels of improvement to the environmental performance of all new batteries that are on the market

These changes will affect all battery types, no matter what their chemical format or their shape, weight or size.

Does the new legislation affect me?

All companies that produces/manufactures, imports, supplies or disposes of batteries and accumulators will be impacted by the new directive:

· Manufactures

· Importers

· Distributors

· End-users

· Organisations that are involved in treating & recycling of both waste batteries and accumulators
